mystery adventure club

A mystery scavenger hunt.

1. rocks (check)
2. a quiet place (check)
3. a dead body

still looking.

march so far.

I get really sick at least once a spring, I think I'm really allergic to the thaw. Not that this year counts, since winter never actually happened. Regardless of winter not showing up, my annual illness has reared it's vicious little head. So this week I didn't accomplish very much, I went to Hamilton on a whim, I made granola, I watched a few movies and I worked at the mascot factory. Again, best job ever! hmmmm, i guess if that's an uneventful week I'm not doing so bad.

I'm working on an embroidery piece for a show in May and I'm having a really hard time getting the motivation to do it. Maybe I need to experience crippling depression to enjoy my quiet time with a needle and thread.

Quick somebody insult me, make me feel awful about my life and lifestyle, Can't you see i have work to do?!

Try as I might.

Sometimes I try to make art, and sometimes that art just falls to pieces. Today I had to throw out something that I had worked on for a greater part of the afternoon. Defeated I looked at my old blog on myspace for a while. It's an amazing archive of how I dealt with the last stressful time in my life. I found this entry from the week everything got better for me in 2007. My writing back then was pretty entertaining. I might get back into it this year. Maybe I will write something everyday for my 'one-a-day' project I haven't started yet.

take a walk

Feeling a bit bummed about my life today I decided to just 'walk it off '. I really love my neighborhood, there are a lot of seemingly abandoned buildings and there is a lot of half finished construction. These are two things I love, heavy machinery and abandoned spaces, the two usually go hand in hand for at least a little while. I love when a space is occupied by construction during the day and left in flux at night. Construction zones at night are a no man's land. I know I'm not supposed to like the construction in my neighborhood, i don't like the end result of condos and gentrification, but i do love the in between time and space of a construction site.

So, I was walking around one of the 'abandoned buildings' trying to figure out if i could break into it later in the evening. When suddenly a man in a car unrolled his window and asked me if i wanted to see the inside of the building. Awesome. It turns out they use the space for movies and most of the walls aren't real. Pretty neat. It also turned out the stranger was a really nice guy, and i hope I magically run into him again. The whole building is pretty well maintained, which isn't what i expected, but who could have seen this scenario happening anyways?

Sometimes it's a good idea to follow a strange man into what appears to be an abandoned building, and sometimes it isn't.

It's a fact:

I love heavy machinery. I had quite the adventure today. Every time I make plans to leave, the city shows me something new and wonderful. Then I change my mind and decide to stay one more month.
